To make Malmö Jumpin’ Fall a positive and stress-free experience for everyone, we have decided not to have auditions. Please read the level descriptions carefully and try to judge yourself fairly. If you’re uncertain, ask your local instructor!
The Lindy Hop tracks all include 6 hours of Lindy Hop classes and 3 hours of Solo Jazz classes. The Solo Jazz classes in the Lindy Hop tracks are specifically catered to the level of the class.
Level 1
You have been dancing Lindy Hop for a year or two, and you can’t wait to learn more. You know the basics, such as the tuck turn, swingout, and basic Charleston. You feel comfortable dancing to most mid-tempo songs, but faster music is still challenging.
Level 2
You have been dancing for a couple of years, and Malmö Jumpin’ Fall will most likely not be your first weekend festival/workshops. You pick up new variations and figures with ease, and you feel comfortable dancing to faster music. You are eager to work on your own personal style as a dancer, and you would like to grow more comfortable around rhythm and improvisation.
Level 3
You have been dancing for at least 4 years, and you have been to many international dance events before. You are likely teaching in your local community, be it weekly classes or drop-in classes for beginners. You are able to express yourself through your dancing to music of a wide variety of tempos and styles, and you feel somewhat confident rhythmically. You are aware of what you need to work on as a dancer, be it your body awareness, your partnering, or your rhythm.
Solo Jazz
You have been dancing solo jazz for a couple of years, and you know your basic Authentic Jazz steps. You are ready for a challenge and you are eager to work on your rhythm and individuality. Think of this as an intermediate/advanced level.
